Our Commitment
We are a fully inclusive school and we aim to ensure that all pupils achieve their full potential not only academically and in all areas of the curriculum, but also personally, socially and emotionally.
We want every child to achieve to the best of their ability, and to do so we understand the importance of recognising each child's strengths and weaknesses. We pride ourselves on ensuring that every child Learns, Enjoys and Succeeds regardless of their starting point.
Year on year, we endeavour to create an inclusive learning environment, where all children can learn, enjoy and succeed in safe and secure learning environment. We are committed to raising standards for all children by removing barriers that may hinder how their learn. We have ensured that our curriculum and planning is reflective of the child’s special need.
We believe that inclusion is directly related to diversity and equality which we promote for all pupils in our care, irrespective of their gender, age, ethnicity, social background, religion, sexual identity, physical ability, educational need and attainment. At our school, all pupils, regardless of their particular needs, are offered inclusive teaching, which will enable them to make the best possible progress, in an environment where they feel that they are a valued member of the school community.
The SENDCo role
Our Assistant Headteacher, Miss Archer, is our Special Educational Needs and Disability Co-ordinator (SENDCo) responsible for overseeing the Special Educational Needs and Disability Policy in line with the SEND Code of Practice. She coordinates specific provision across the school to support individual children with SEND. Her role is to liaise with staff, external professionals, parents and the children in order to ensure that collaborative thinking and decisions are made with the child’s best interest at heart.
The school SENDCo works in collaboration with the school Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team and school staff in the strategic development of the SEND policy and provision in the school, in order to raise the achievement of children with SEND.
