FRIENDS OF RUTHERFORD HOUSE SCHOOL
Autumn term update - Christmas Fair
A huge great big Christmasy thank you to everyone who was at the Christmas Fair and contributed to its success. We made an amazing £7,500 - a Christmas Fair record for us.
There was a snow zone, amazing grotto, petting zoo, bouncy castle, snow balls at the teachers, face painting, fire engine, games, tombola, craft, cookie decorating, chocolate fountain, BBQ, mulled wine and so much more for everyone to enjoy. An enormous thank you to everyone involved but particularly the Year 1 team who were the master minds behind the day.
The Friends is the charitable fundraising arm of Rutherford House School - you may be more familiar with the term 'PTA' or 'Parent Teacher Association'. All families are automatically members of the Friends when their child joins the school and we would love your help.
The Friends was founded by a group of Rutherford House parents when the school opened in 2013 for these purposes.
- To support the school and to promote friendship, through the organisation of social functions and other means, amongst parents/carers, staff and other people interested in the life of the school, as well as acting as a valuable source of information for current and prospective parents
- To raise funds for the school in order to meet the current and future school needs as it continues to grow
- To raise funds for chosen school charities
Since 2013 the Friends has raised £91,000 for the school and in the 2017/2018 school year we will break the £100,000 mark. This money has helped transform the space and has been used for a variety of projects to improve the school. We've turned the playground from a carpark to the fun place it is today. We have supported art projects at school. We've bought sports equipment, books and musical instruments, as well as furnishing the school with iPads and IT equipment.
Last year we raised over £34,000 and this year's target is £45,000. We can only do this with the help from everyone within the school community. We're always on the lookout for volunteers to help the school for our children, so please get in touch if you would like to help.
Our main focus for this school year is to raise money to buy more IT and sports equipment as well as books.
There is more information about key events and dates here.
And you can get started now, here are a few ways that you can help throughout the year.

There are no catches or hidden charges and we can raise even more money for the school.
The Friends' 50:50 club provides members with the opportunity to win up to £500, whilst also supporting extra curricular projects at the school. Entry for the year costs £50 and there are 5 draws over the school year - with over £100 in prizes at each draw.
